MAEOE Conferences and Events
2007 MAEOE Conference/"Partnering For the Future"
In October 2007, nearly 90 MAEOE members convened in Roscommon, Michigan at the DNR Ralph MacMullen Conference Center to celebrate our
collective interests and work in environmental and outdoor education. This year’s conference focus, “Partnering for our Future”
proved to offer a suite of sessions, speakers, and opportunities emphasizing the values and positive impacts of strong partnerships in environmental and outdoor education. Community-Based Education, Place-Based Education, Service Learning and Environmental Literacy research and development were among the many topics explored throughout the conference.
Keynote Speaker Jon Yoder and science coordinator for the Salem-Keizer School District from the State of Oregon provided an engaging and inspirational look at community-based education, both in theory and practice. THANK YOU to our conference planning committee, Great Lakes Fishery Trust and Wege Foundation sponsors, session and keynote presenters, and all of the MAEOE members who participated and contributed in making the 2007 MAEOE Fall Conference a memorable success!

2006 MAEOE Conference/"Interdisciplinary Benchmarks"
Conference highlights included sessions focused on “Interdisciplinary Benchmarks,” including opportunities to enhance your environmental and outdoor education
programming through a diversity of disciplines, from science to writing.
Of course networking opportunities are always a notable value of MAEOE’s Fall Conference. This year’s conference offered opportunities to interact with Kevin Frailey, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources new Education and Outreach Manager, and Gijsbert “Nick” van Frankenhuyzen and Robbyn Smith, renowned Michigan wildlife artists.
