ANNOUNCING OPERATION DIVINA GUADALUPE VI

Sea Shepherd is very excited to announce that the White Holly is going to be embarking on a very important expedition. Operation Divina Guadalupe is a collaboration between CONANP, Sea Shepherd, and Scripps Institution of Oceanography to study the Cuvier’s beaked whales of Guadalupe Island. The island of Guadalupe is such a special place and a biosphere reserve that is home not only to the Cuvier’s beaked whale, but also to other amazing species, such as the Great White shark and the Guadalupe fur seal, which was hunted almost to extinction, but now is back to a very healthy population. Cuvier’s beaked whales face many different threats around the planet so the data that we collect in Guadalupe Island, which is a relatively undisturbed environment, will help us to protect them not only here, but everywhere else where they occur.
