Scientist gets too close to lava lake! – Richard Hammond’s Journey to the Centre of the Planet – BBC

While the team sleep the superheated molten rock in the lake churns and boils spilling over the rim When Nairagongo last erupted in 2002 nearly 400,000 people in the nearby town had to be evacuated because when near Nairagongo erupts There’s no way to outrun the lava Nairagongo’s lava can flow at over 60 miles an hour faster than any other lava in the world Next morning and the lake is calmer Darío sees another scientist reached the bottom of the crater It looks like he’s going for the ultimate prize; a sample of lava straight from the lake itself It is dangerous in my opinion it is a little crazy I mean I wonder that The special suit he wears will deflect some of the incredible heat at the lakes edge But it’ll do nothing to protect him if he comes into direct contact with the lava It’s very very close Okay, it’s just there really few centimeters It’s just on the ring oh Oh my god come back tomorrow come back Lava begins to bubble over the rim of the lake Darío believes the scientist is taking too big a risk I kind of agree The lake is becoming more active lava surges over the edge The lava lake is now overflowing in three different areas very strong exactly where it was five minutes ago Later that day some perhaps more sensible scientists collect samples from the crater floor

  1. I dident know obsidian was in real life or did you just said that out of minecraft wait is obsidian very hard in real life just like minecraft

  2. That scientist is the kind of idiot that gets people hurt or killed if they had to go rescue him! What a MORON!

  3. Is this what hell looks like? Why i’m so scared. SO SCARED. My hands are shaking. And it made me sad. It made me wanna cry. Oh my god.

  4. maybe he did it for the adrenaline kick. But seriously voluntarily putting god's precious gift of life into the risk of a very fiery gruesome and steamy end is not the way i believe god meant us to live our lives .My question is why not get the sample from the lava floor or anywhere elese its the same lava just cooled down.Yes i do agree some chemical and physical changes might follow during the cooling down of the lava though most of the composition should be the same.

  5. Just to explain to you all he wasn't actually gonna bring back a sample, the divide he was carrieing just scans the lava

  6. What do u mean he says it dangerous? lava lakes for fun, and exciting! Lava lakes are actually cool, and healthy for your skin!! May I suggest the Erta Ale? I went there and me and my family and friends cannonball into the lake and had a blast!! They are like a Swimming pool but a bit cooler and chilly! Don’t listen to this, listen to me, and jump in when u can! it’s fine, the lava feels nice! Enjoy, and please jump in the lake!

  7. The Ultimate Pyromainiac…He used to burn down his foster homes as a child, and stay in the front door until the Fire Department Arrived. Later they wouldn't higher him so he took the next job that came to mind.
