Scientist Richard Werthamer on Exxon and climate change | FRONTLINE

the implications of increasing carbon dioxide were not that significant for Exxon per se they were significant because he implied dramatic changes in climate and that could provoke very substantial legislative consequences that would impact Exxon's business significantly you know if you think that burning fossil fuels is going to flood your cities well there's going to be some national discussion about what to do about it and one possibility is we're gonna have to burn fewer less carbon carbon-based fuels if Exxon had been supportive and a supportive participant in the debate about carbon dioxide and climate change it would and much easier to get agreement among among countries and international agreements I mean Exxon is basically everywhere there's no virtually no country that it doesn't they were presence in it would have helped a great deal

  1. Why have these scientists not spoken out before. If they believed so much in the science they were doing why didn't they speak out against Exxon's climate change denial.

  2. There was a lawsuit that almost shut down carbon fuels…Kivalina v. Exxon so the US Supreme Court shut that down fast – .
